Now Playing – Send the broadcast title automatically

This feature takes the title currently playing in a broadcast player (for example Traktor or Mixxx) and sends it automatically to RadioBOSS as the cast title.

What is it for?
When the sound is fed directly from a mixer into the sound card input of RadioBOSS, RadioBOSS does not know any title – the title display would stay empty. If a DJ or broadcast program is running in parallel and sends its current title as a network broadcast (Icecast), RemotePLE can receive that title and pass it on to RadioBOSS. No extra Icecast service is needed – RemotePLE accepts the broadcast itself.

Settings
The feature is set up in the settings dialog on the Extended tab:

Now Playing Port
The network port RemotePLE waits on for the title. The default is 8000. This port must be entered as the target port in the broadcast player.

Receive Now Playing and send to RadioBOSS
Turns the feature on or off. When the check box is ticked, RemotePLE waits for incoming titles and sends every title change to RadioBOSS.

Send to local RadioBOSS instance
Determines which RadioBOSS instance the title is sent to. When the check box is not ticked, the title goes to the remote (main) instance. When it is ticked, the title goes to the local instance. If no remote instance is configured, the local one is used automatically.

Setting up the broadcast player
In the broadcast player (Traktor, Mixxx and others) set up broadcasting via Icecast:
- Server or host: the address of the computer running RemotePLE (127.0.0.1 on the same computer)
- Port: the same port as set above (default 8000)
- Format: MP3 or Ogg – both are supported
- User name and password can be anything, they are not checked

The setting belongs to the current server profile. After switching profiles or saving the settings, reception is restarted automatically with the new values.
